Great staff, but no so great policies.

During our check-in, we were informed that the hotel would be hosting a Halloween party and that in-house guests were welcome to attend free of charge, with priority access. At around 7:00 PM, we proceeded to the restaurant on the 5th floor for dinner. The food was good, and after our meal, we decided to stay a bit longer to enjoy some drinks and wait for the party to begin, as we were already at the venue. To our surprise, a waitress suddenly approached our table with the bill. I mentioned that I had not requested it, and she explained that we needed to leave as the restaurant would be reserved for the Halloween party, which had a separate charge per guest. I responded that it would have been courteous to inform us of this policy upon our arrival. I even offered to settle our current bill and pay the additional amount for the party entry. The waitress consulted the manager but later returned to inform us that all tables had been reserved and there were no seats available. As a result, we were asked to leave. The manager did not approach us to offer any explanation or apology, which I found very disappointing and unprofessional. We returned to our room and continued our evening there, as we had no other option. Later, when my nephew saw other guests entering the hotel, he asked where they were going, and they mentioned they were attending the Halloween party clearly contradicting what we had been told about in-house guests being the priority. The following day, during checkout, we were also charged PHP 1,000 for a small chocolate stain on a pillow, which I found excessive and unreasonable. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had in Tacloban. The lack of proper communication, poor management, and absence of basic hospitality left a very negative impression. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone seeking quality service and professionalism.
